This is another piece from my first oil painting series. Its a little 5″x5″ oil on canvas painting. In this work I am continuing to explore complementary colour relationships. So, in the modern colour wheel the complement of green is magenta. This is a softer tone than many of the other pieces in this exploratory series. On the traditional colour wheel the complement of green is red. Magenta can seem like a softer version of red (it isn’t really, but it kind of has that feeling) so using a softer version of green seemed like an appropriate way of playing with the colour relationships.
This piece includes the thick impasto textures that go towards characterizing this series.
