Hi there everyone, allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Annalee Beer. I live and work in Brisbane, Australia. I’m starting down the path of becoming a professional artist, which is something of an exciting change in my life. I’ve committed myself to doing this as my full time gig, how cool and how scary! Starting new ventures is always scary, I think. 🙂
I’m still learning who I am as an artist. For the past three months I’ve been teaching myself to use oil paints, but my artisan craft work, particularly my beaded work is my real specialty. It would be a dream come true to be able to provide my beaded floral sculptures to new families for weddings. There’s beauty in the idea of creating family heirlooms that can be passed down the generations, creating emotional connections between family members, and creating work that will be cherished for decades to come.
I have a showcase coming up on the 13th of next month which is really prompting me to get into gear as a professional which includes things like getting my website and blog together before the event. Its a little bit stressful, but, its all necessary work!
It’ll probably take me a little time to decide on the direction of my blog and what I might want to communicate to the world, and what the world might want to hear from me. I expect to post my thoughts, my inspirations, work in progress pieces. Perhaps this could be a place where I could write in detail some of the thoughts that I have, or document the process of creation. I’d also love to highlight works from other artists and artisans. Perhaps I might end up reviewing art fairs and wedding expos. We’ll really have to see where this goes.
